Ed was raised in Evansville, Indiana. Growing up, he enjoyed various sports, including tennis, baseball, and judo. In 1986, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, to pursue a career in the music industry and worked on the production crew for the Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels Tour.

In 1998, Ed graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing in 1999, and in 2003, he graduated from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, Ed received the Cali and Dean’s Excellence Awards for his achievements in International Finance, Products Liability, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He passed the Tennessee Bar Exam in 2003 and the Arkansas Bar Exam in 2004, and he is currently licensed in both states.

After gaining admission to the Tennessee and Arkansas bars, Ed applied his legal and business knowledge at a large regional broker-dealer, a local registered investment advisor, a regional trust company, and a small specialty litigation firm. Additionally, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Memphis and taught Personal Finance as an Adjunct Instructor at a local private high school.

Ed has been a three-term president of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law Alumni Board of Directors and has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Memphis Boys Athletic Association (Memphis Tigers Baseball), Camp Bear Track, Germantown Baseball League, AutoZone Liberty Bowl, and AmSouth Investment Management Company (RIA).

He has been married for twenty-four years and has three wonderful children. Ed enjoys working with clients in areas such as estate planning, probate, wills and trusts, contract negotiations, securities law, new business formation, and business sales and consolidations.
